POMINI Long Rolling Mills will supply a new wire rod outlet complete with mechanical and electrical equipment to a long product manufacturing company in the Middle East. The investment will allow the utilizer to expand its product portfolio and meet the growing local demand. The new rod outlet will process both rebars and plain rounds with diameters up to 16 mm, in carbon, quality and special steel grades for construction and engineering applications. Start-up is expected during 2023.

The contracted scope of supply includes a 10-stand high speed finishing monoblock, a post-block cooling system with intermediate pinch rolls, an inline profile measurement device, the ring forming area with pinch roll and laying head, the multi-zone ring conveyor with cooling fans, the coil forming station, the key equipment for the coil handling and unloading area including a vertical compactor with wire binding unit, weighing station with printer and robotic automatic tag applicator.

New equipment added to the existing rolling train will include process cooling pipes, two pre-finishing housing-less RedRing series 5 stands arranged in horizontal/vertical configuration, a pinch roll with cropping and emergency shears. The scope is completed by operational change parts, spare parts, fluid systems and additional engineering services. POMINI Long Rolling Mills will also provide advisory services for erection and commissioning.
Designed for a maximum rolling speed of 100 meters per second, the new outlet will run at maximum 95 tons per hour and have an annual capacity of 450,000 metric tons of wire rod in carbon, quality and special steel..
